The Government Affairs Committee shall provide guidance and recommendations to the AOCA Board on legislative and regulatory issues pertaining to the fast lube industry and to AOCA, and to use appropriate resources to ensure an optimal business environment.
Specifically, the Government Affairs Committee will:
Analyze and make recommendations on federal legislative issues impacting the fast lube business and AOCA members.
Analyze and make recommendations on federal regulatory issues impacting the fast lube business and AOCA members.
Analyze and make recommendations on state/provincial legislative issues impacting the fast lube business and AOCA members.
Analyze and make recommendations on state/provincial regulatory issues impacting the fast lube business and AOCA members.
Identify opportunities to partner with other entities and organizations to further issues relating to fast lube business operations.
The following are a number of potential activities for the Government Affairs Committee:
Work with federal and state/provincial legislators to pass and /or further the ideals of the Right to Repair legislation
Work to ensure fair business practices in relation to automobile OEMs.
Work on federal and state/provincial regulatory issues relating to environmental protection and compliance.
Work on federal and state/provincial safety related issues.
Work on federal and state/provincial fire and electrical code issues.
Work on federal and state/provincial issues pertaining to business issues, such as tax credits for regular, preventative automotive maintenance, and health care.
Provide members and industry with news on government affairs issues.
Produce and disseminate compliance guides relating to safety, environment and business licensing.
